3rd Annual Save-A-Limb Bike Ride
Sunday, September 28th is the 3rd Annual Save-A-Limb bike ride. The ride starts from Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, MD. There are three ride options to choose from, a 62 mile metric century, a 30 mile ride, or a 6 mile family fun ride. The metric century ride leaves the park at 8 AM, the 30 mile ride option leaves at 9 AM, while the family fun ride leaves the park at 10 AM.
The $25 event registration fee includes an event t-shirt, continental breakfast before the ride, and a free ticket to the carnival and picnic which takes place at the conclusion of the ride. Raffle tickets will be available during the picnic for the chance to win a Cannondale R700 road bike.
In addition to the $25 registration fee, participants in the 62 and 30 mile ride options are asked to raise a minimum of $75 for the Save-A-Limb fund. Participants who raise $500 or more are invited to attend a recognition dinner the night before the ride. The dinner, which takes place on Saturday, September 27th features cycling legends Bob Roll and Floyd Landis.
Every dollar raised during the Save-A-Limb bike ride goes towards helping people with joint and limb deformities. You can register for the 3rd annual Save-A-Limb bike ride by visiting the Active.com website.
Here is the mission statement of the Save-A-Limb fund which is posted on their website:
“The Save-A-Limb Fund of the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital is a non-profit organization established with the goal of advancing patient care and support in the fight to save limbs from amputation and to preserve joints.”
Please visit the Save-A-Limb website for further information. I would like to hear from anyone that has done this ride, or plans on doing this ride.
Take care,
Lynn Smythe AKA the Bike Diva
