AIDS Walk, Athens Georgia
Posted by Sandra Sims on Feb 18, 2008 under Walking, Running, AIDS / HIV, Causes, Athletic Events |
Students at the University of Georgia are taking the lead in helping to raise funds for a great cause. The AIDS Walk/Run Athens will be held on March 1st 2008 starting with a timed 5K race followed by a walk.
Proceeds will benefit AIDS Athens, an organization that serves Athens, GA and 10 surrounding counties. It is the only AIDS facility serving these areas.
Good luck to all of the students planning this event, running, walking and raising funds for a great cause!

Hi Lauren! Thanks for the update. That is great that you have a speaker from AIDS Athens. Then people can really get an idea of what they are walking for. Good luck with the event!

Lauren and Sandra, I just found this blog — so excited to see a blog & website specifically about active charity events –I started a company called Buttons of Hope that helps people make custom photo buttons to wear during charity walks — instead of writing a name on a placard you can now “put a face on your cause with a custom photo buttons — $5 a button, no minimums make one if you like and $1 from each button donated to the charity of you choice - I would love your feedback on the idea! my Behind the Button blog here http://makehope.typepad.com/behind_the_button/2008/03/have-you-heard.html
