Relay for Life Benefits American Cancer Society

Relay for Life is a special event that honors cancer survivors, the memories of loved ones, and aims to raise money to fight cancer. Teams are formed from friends, businesses, churches and other organizations. Money raised by participants goes toward research and programs of the American Cancer Society.

Teams of people walk at a local high school or park where the event takes place. Each team tries to keep at least one person walking or running on the track at all times.

Anyone can participate in Relay for Life; you don’t have to be an athlete to join in. It is great for kids and adults alike. Live entertainment including musical acts or a DJ, and picnic foods make for a festival like atmosphere. Many people set up tents and stay the night.

By participating in Relay for Life, you can honor those you have known effected by the disease. There is hope, and each day we are getting closer to a cure!

I have lost my best friend due to cancer and i think that was the worse time when I heard that he is no more. There were 2 thoughts in my mind, Is it good that he is relieved from that pains or should it happen? Anyhow we have no control over death and life so there is nothing we can do. I think bloggers can do a lot by collecting donations and money for organizations.

I really appreciate the efforts made by societies and people who make efforts to serve the cancer patients. Though we can not do anything to cure them but surely we can make them enjoy the moments.

Many patients learn to manage their disease and add years, sometimes decades, to their lives with the right therapies. it is a life style change.

Your fund-raiser can be anything from a simple car wash to an elaborate 5-stop Poker Run with a Live Band reception at the end. Share your favorite or most successful fund-raisers in a way that maps them out so that other Relayers across the country can duplicate them and increase their own Relay For Life fund-raising totals.

This is working for a noble cause. Relay for Life is helping cancer patients who are in a real need. I really appreciate these people’s efforts to help needy cancer patients.
