Audio Bone Head Phones

Bone Phone
Does anyone out there remember the Bone Phone, from the late 70’s, early 80’s or am I just dating myself? I remember being fascinated during my freshmen year of college, the very first time I saw a friend of mine out jogging with her Bone Phone. The Bone Phone, which looked like a three dimensional lycra scarf, was worn around your neck. The Bone Phone conducted sound waves through your body, and enabled you to listen to AM/FM radio stations, there was even a deluxe version available which played cassette tapes.

Audio Bone Headphones
I recently had a chance to test out a pair of Audio Bone headphones by GameChanger Innovations. Let me just tell you this, Audio Bones ain’t yo mamas Bone Phones! The Audio Bones look like a regular pair of headphones but are worn outside your ear. According to the Audio Bone website: “Bone Conduction bypasses the eardrums.  In bone conduction listening, the headphones perform the role of your ear drums.  Audio Bone headphones decode sound waves and convert them into vibrations that can be received directly by the Cochlea – so the ear drum is never involved.

But because you are wearing the Audio Bones outside of your ear, you can still hear the conversation going on around you. I tested out the Audio Bones at my house, while my husband, daughter and I were in the kitchen. I was able to conduct a normal conversation with them, while listening to music through my MP3 player at the same time. Pretty cool.

Audio Bones for Athletes
Audio Bones are perfect for all athletes to wear while they are working out, including triathletes, joggers, walkers, hikers, cyclists and more. When I was using regular headphones, I only tried using my MP3 player one time while jogging. I couldn’t hear anyone around me, and ended up running with one ear uncovered.

Wearing traditional headphones, while biking, is just plain dangerous. You can’t hear the traffic approaching from behind, and you can’t hear fellow cyclists shouting out “on your left” when they pass you. But the Audio Bones would be a perfect solution.

Audio Bones are also waterproof, which makes them the perfect solution for swimmers and triathletes. Of course you would have to have your MP3 player in a water proof holder in order to use them under water.

Additional Information
Audio Bones have a suggested retail price of $189 and are available in black, blue, orange or white. Limited edition colors, which retail for $219, include lime green, pink, purple and taupe. Visit the Audio Bone website for further information on this innovative product, or to purchase your own pair of Audio Bone headphones.

Take care,
