For several years Big O Tires, headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, has participated in the Denver Komen Race for the Cure.
The company has 540 retail locations in 21 states. Many of these stores also participate in the Race for the Cure when there is one near them.
This year they signed on as a Crystal Sponsor of the Denver race and were able to have a booth as part of that. Employees and their families wore special T-shirts (photo at left) as they staffed the booth. The company gave out 5,000 key chains at their race booth. It includes a $5 off coupon that is reusable for tires or service at any Big O Tires.
Dave Liggett said, “One interesting thing that happened this year was we had one of our silk banners up showing a survivor hugging her son. A woman came by our booth and said she liked that banner - it was the woman in the photo. She said her son in the photo with her was over by the finish line of the race. We had an extra banner with us of that photo and gave it to her.”
Their promotion of the Komen and it’s cause is not limited to the race. In October, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they have posters and other materials up in all the stores supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation and provide envelopes for interested customers to mail in donations.
