Close to 700 Yale University students, faculty, and community residents participated in the AIDS Walk in New Haven, Connecticut last Sunday.
The annual 5K walk is sponsored by the Yale chapter of AIDS Watch and raises funds for 10 local HIV and AIDS service organizations. This year walkers raised even more than in years past, over $30,000.

Students at the University of Georgia are taking the lead in helping to raise funds for a great cause. The AIDS Walk/Run Athens will be held on March 1st 2008 starting with a timed 5K race followed by a walk.
Proceeds will benefit AIDS Athens, an organization that serves Athens, GA and 10 surrounding counties. It is the only AIDS facility serving these areas.
Good luck to all of the students planning this event, running, walking and raising funds for a great cause!
Members of Team World Vision were easy to spot at the Chicago Marathon in their orange and white. This year’s race, held on October 7th, was a hot and humid but that didn’t matter to the over 500 members of Team World Vision who ran for children in Africa.
One team member said “seeing the athletes so vulnerable, crying out for water or anything to drink was like experiencing just a tiny yet terrifying taste of the vulnerability which those for whom we are fundraising face every day.” Read more… »

Last week I was in New York City, but just missed the 22nd Annual AIDS Walk New York which was on Sunday. It was a record setter too, the largest and most successful AIDS Walk ever held. Event organizers announced that 45,000 walkers helped to raise a grand total of $6,857,527. Yes that is close to 7 million dollars.
AIDS Walk New York benefits GMHC and more than 50 other local AIDS organizations.

Macy’s is the presenting sponsor of the 2007 AIDS Walk Boston to be held on Sunday, June 3. The walk is planned by the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts (AAC) and organizers are still in awe of Macy’s record-setting $50,000 gift as presenting sponsor for the event. Read more… »
