Charity Event Goals for 2009
Do you know what athletic charity events you’ll attend in 2009? I just made my list based on what’s already been posted on organizations’ websites. I’m excited to have these events penned into my 2009 planner:

Does Stigma Affect Your Fundraising Efforts?
A few years ago, I was trying to drum up participation in our upcoming Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk by hosting a booth at a community fair. I had cheery, purple decorations (purple is the signature color of the Alzheimer’s cause), freebies such as pens and magnets, and lots of information about Memory Walk, Alzheimer’s disease, [...]
Great Memories of Memory Walk Motivate Me to Keep Walking
“When I give, I give myself.”
- Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
Many of us are drawn to charity athletic events because of personal experiences with a disease or social issue. My story is no different. After watching my own grandmother die of Alzheimer’s disease, I knew that I wanted to raise awareness and funds to help [...]

Team World Vision Raises $500K for African Aid
Members of Team World Vision were easy to spot at the Chicago Marathon in their orange and white. This year’s race, held on October 7th, was a hot and humid but that didn’t matter to the over 500 members of Team World Vision who ran for children in Africa.
One team member said “seeing [...]
AIDS Walk New York Sets Record
Last week I was in New York City, but just missed the 22nd Annual AIDS Walk New York which was on Sunday. It was a record setter too, the largest and most successful AIDS Walk ever held. Event organizers announced that 45,000 walkers helped to raise a grand total of $6,857,527. Yes [...]
Macy’s Sponsors AIDS Walk Boston to the Tune of $50,000
Macy’s is the presenting sponsor of the 2007 AIDS Walk Boston to be held on Sunday, June 3. The walk is planned by the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts (AAC) and organizers are still in awe of Macy’s record-setting $50,000 gift as presenting sponsor for the event.
