The Manors at Hobe Sound Setting Example for Florida Memory Walk

I’ve written about the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk many times before, but it was always in reference to the Southern Utah Memory Walk. This time, I want to tell you about a Memory Walk taking place in Florida and a special team raising money for this important event.
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to [...]

Charity Event Goals for 2009

Do you know what athletic charity events you’ll attend in 2009? I just made my list based on what’s already been posted on organizations’ websites. I’m excited to have these events penned into my 2009 planner:

Get a Head Start on Next Year’s Charity Event Fundraising

Although I usually participate in a variety of athletic charity events each year, the one I never miss is the Southern Utah Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, which is held each November. As soon as it’s over, the rush of the holiday season ensues, and it’s hard to think about doing anything to prepare for next [...]

Make Charity Events Fun for Kids, Too

When you think of charity events that raise money for Alzheimer’s disease, you probably don’t think that they would be much fun for kids. However, the Southern Utah Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk was certainly a family affair, and the kids seemed to be having a grand time.
When I arrived at the event on November 8, [...]

Community Recognition Enhances Athletic Charity Events

When I attended the 2008 Southern Utah Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, one thing I noticed was the huge influx of new people participating in the event. I think [...]

Southern Utah Memory Walk Just Keeps Getter Better

Saturday, November 8th was a day to remember on many levels. The Southern Utah Memory Walk enjoyed its largest crowd ever and met its fundraising goal despite these tough economic times.

Since I used to coordinate this walk to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s disease, the event holds a special place in my heart. Since [...]

What Do You Do When You Reach Your Fundraising Goal?

When I checked my email yesterday, I was ecstatic to see this seven-word subject line for one of my messages: “Congratulations! You have reached your fundraising goal.”
For several months, I’ve been raising money for the Southern Utah Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk. The event is Saturday, November 8, and as of a few days ago, I [...]

Generating Corporate Sponsorships Can Be Fun and Rewarding

In my last blog, I outlined two steps to determining a sponsorship structure for your event. After you’ve determined your sponsorship levels and benefits, it’s time to start approaching local businesses about becoming corporate sponsors. This can be daunting for some people (it was for me, at first), but follow these tips, and you might [...]

Noncompetitive Charity Events Still Require Training

I love that so many kinds of athletic events are covered through Charity Mile: walks, runs, bike rides, triathlons, and more. Many of these events are competitive, where we’re trying to win prizes for our athletic prowess in addition to raising funds for important causes.
However, other events are noncompetitive, although they’re still athletic in nature. [...]
