National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin 1, 2, or 3 Mile Walk
Posted by Sandra Sims on Aug 15, 2007 under Athletic Events, Causes, Kidney, Walking |On Sunday, September 23, 2007 the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin will hold its annual Kidney Walk in Brookfield’s Mitchell Park, Brookfield, WI.
The Kidney Walk is an opportunity for dialysis patients, transplant recipients, living donors, donor family members and healthcare professionals to get together and interact while raising community awareness of chronic kidney disease and organ donation.
Walkers will be able to choose one of three family-friendly routes 1, 2, or 3 miles, where they can stop along the way to test their skills at healthy trivia and enjoy energizing snacks and refreshments. Upon crossing the finish line walkers will find themselves at the entrance to the “Hidden River Art Festival.” They can enjoy the sounds of Michael Drake & The No Tan Lines Band and wander among the galleries showcasing 80 of Wisconsin’s best artists.
According to Cindy Huber of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin:
Our goal is to have 500 walkers who will help us raise $50,000 to fund the free health (kidney) screening programs; organ donation and living donor awareness; and dialysis and transplant education programs planned for this next year.
