National Running Day
Happy National Running Day!
That’s right, June 3rd marks the day that we come together as a nation in a commitment to be healthy and fit. This is the day that major organizations in the running industry join forces to promote running.
Why? Well, because running is healthy, easy and accessible. All you need is a pair of tennis shoes and a sidewalk, road, trail or track. As I’ve mentioned before, through all of my travels it never ceases to amaze me how running fits into every culture. No fancy gym or piece of equipment is required. Physical health, reduced stress and improved self-esteem can all be achieved by hitting the pavement.
National Running Day events are taking place across the country today, but you don’t have to participate in an organized offering to become involved. Just make a commitment to lace up your shoes today and run. I’m going to! You can find me on the treadmill this afternoon celebrating the day!
If you’ve never run before, no problem, take a walk instead. Want to try running? Consider adding in a 30 second jog for every 5 minutes of walking to get you started.
The celebration of this day got me thinking about all the great posts full of valuable info the Charity Mile writers have provided over the past year. I think it is time for a bit of a round-up. Whether you want to know how to train for your first 5K, what to wear or what to eat you can find it here.
Have ambitions to become a runner? Check out these posts and commit today!

I like the river boat gym idea. A more basic idea that might work though would be hooking dynamo’s up to all the eliptical, treadmill, and byclces at the gym and harnessing that electrical power for use by the gym. I would totally get a membership if the River boat gym every opens a location on Ladybird lake and would definitely try to run over the crew teams. haha no hard feelings crew members
