The American Cancer Society held a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Queens, New York on Sunday, October 21st. The 5-mile walk was held along Queens Boulevard and began and ended at Queens Borough Hall.

The event had more than 6,500 participants. They raised $706,000 which will benefit breast cancer research and outreach programs. The American Cancer Society held walks throughout the New York City area and more than 60,000 walkers in the five boroughs raised $5,356,000. Last year’s walk in Queens raised $575,000.

“It was the most people we ever had march in the borough,” said Diane Colonna, Director of Special Events for the American Cancer Society Queens Division, of this year’s participants. “I’m very excited and proud of what our supporters in Queens have done.”
