PRESS RELEASE: Unique Website for Triathletes Provides Support, Motivation and More

www.ontri.com has 50,000 members and growing

BOSTON, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ — What started out as a website for a few Boston-area athletes to motivate each other has evolved into a popular Facebook for triathletes with members all over the country.

The site, www.ontri.com, was founded by Jon Finegold in 2005. It has about 50,000 members, most very dedicated and enthusiastic triathletes who log on for training and nutrition tips, support and motivation, training logs, nutrition tracking, event updates and more. Membership is free.

The site is for athletes of any level, with content that appeals to the recreational runner as well as the competitive triathlete.

Roland Goodell, 41, of Franklin, Mass. has been an Ontri member for three years. He’s very active in multiple sports and is currently training for the Ironman Canada next year, a rigorous, grueling and prestigious competition. Completing it is one of his many ambitious goals.

Another on-going goal is to train smarter and become injury free for many years to come,” he said. “I think this is where continued learning and education comes into play and Ontri will be a big part of it.”

Andy Mixell, 47, of Menomonee Falls, Wis. joined Ontri about two years ago. At the time, he was looking for an online log to track his training for distance swimming, running, cycling and triathlons. He is very active in the chat room, where he said he’s “amazed” by how much he’s learning.

I find that it helps to motivate me,” Mixell said. “Reading about what is going on with other members of the community keeps me fired up.”

Lauri Fauerbach Adams, 37, of Philadelphia is a highly competitive runner and triathlete with an impressive number of metals and trophies along with two sponsorships. Even though she’s a top competitor and coach, she still gets a lot out of her Ontri membership.

It’s given me access to a lot of knowledge,” she said. “I’m an athlete and a coach, but you can always learn something.”

She especially benefits from meeting athletes from all over the country.

Ontri lets me meet other athletes from around the country for shared dinners, bike repairs and supplies, and training partners,” Fauerbach Adams said. “Almost every person I’ve met through the (message) board has become a good friend, which is the most valuable component.”
