State-to-State Half Marathon
Ever wanted to go for a run and then claim you ran in two states afterward? If you happen to be in the Oxford, OH area on Sunday, September 27, 2009 you can!
The State-to-State Half Marathon is ready for its seventh year of success. The course starts and ends in the Oxford’s Uptown Parks. As you run, you will cross over the state line into Indiana before heading back to Oxford. Two states for the price of one run and of course the accomplishment of finishing a half marathon!
While the event is not run for one specific charity, many have benefited from it over the years. It is hosted by the Oxford American Discovery Trail (ADT) Running Club which is a non-profit organization and a member of the Road Runners Club of America. The main objective of the club is to:
… promote and encourage long distance running, and to educate the public on the many benefits of running.
The half marathon was originally created from an effort to help celebrate the bicentennial of Ohio throughout the community and to promote the ADT, a coast-to-coast recreational trail that goes through Oxford.
Since 2003 more than $53,000 has been donated to various charities through the work of the Oxford ADT Running Club. Some recipients include the Oxford Community Foundation, the Oxford Family Resource Center, the Cincinnati Chapter Team in Training and the Boy Scouts of America.
