Go for a Stroll with the Epilepsy Foundation
Posted by Sandra Sims on Feb 26, 2008 under Athletic Events, Causes, Epilepsy, Walking |Yesterday I highlighted a few of the stories about extreme run/walk events. If you really want to run, walk, or hike long distances for a charity that is great. I could probably do a long distance hike if it were not a race.
But you don’t have to do something that extreme to help a good cause. In fact all the Epilepsy Foundation asks you to do is take a stroll. It’s a pledge based event so you get your friends and family to support you, then just do two miles. That’s it, just two miles.
The Epilepsy Foundation will be having the second annual National Walk for Epilepsy on Saturday, March 29, 2008. It will be in Washington DC near the historic sites and just in time for cherry blossom season. Last year more than 5,000 people from 38 states came to the National Mall to participate and more than $1 million was raised!

DC would be great at that time of year, but you don’t have to go too far from home to support this cause. Regional and state level Epilepsy Foundations are also hosting Strolls.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota is already gearing up for their regional events which will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 in Fargo, Duluth, St. Cloud, Rochester, and the Twin Cities.
You can find your local Epilepsy Foundation by going to the national website and entering your zip code.
