American Cancer Society Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a special event that
honors cancer survivors, the memories of loved ones, and aims to
raise money to fight cancer. Teams are formed from friends, businesses,
churches and other organizations. Money raised by participants goes
toward research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
Teams of people walk at a local high school or park where the event
takes place. Each team tries to keep at least one person walking
or running on the track at all times.
Anyone can participate in Relay for Life; you don't have to be
an athlete to join in. It is great for kids and adults alike. Live
entertainment including musical acts or a DJ, and picnic foods make
for a festival like atmosphere. Many people set up tents and stay
the night.
By participating in Relay for Life, you can honor loved ones who have struggled with this disease. There is hope, and each day we are
getting closer to a cure!
